‘The Forever Gift’ - is a Christmas ad we made for the Den Kit Co. It celebrates the timeless magic of Den Kits, perfect for passing down through generations.

We drew inspiration from vintage postcards and the legendary Raymond Briggs for the design style of the film.

We wanted to showcase are vast and varied character designs after a failed pitch where the feedback was we "didn't have enough design work". That sounded like a challenge to Creative Director Harry Slinger-Thompson who came up with a morphing ident idea where we showcase some of are range of characters. Inspired by the Cartoon networks TV Idents of the 2010's

The brief was to showcase their three main products: the original den kit, the cottage garden kit & the pirate den kit.

The Den Kit Co. wanted the commercial to convey the calm, fun and beauty of using a Den Kit Co. den in nature.

After a viral TikTok and Instagram trend swept the internet we thought we'd animate a few of our characters and put our own spin on it. 

During a break between major projects, our team at Scribble Room took on the creative challenge of crafting unique idents to showcase the studio’s personality. The ‘Wizard’ ident was a collaborative effort driven by our talented animators, who, while working on a larger production, eagerly embraced the chance to channel their creativity between client revisions. With a room full of innovative minds, we’re always finding ways to keep creativity flowing—designing characters, crafting backgrounds, and weaving together stories that represent who we are as a studio.

Who doesn't love teaming up with your friends and taking on a dungeon of goblins. Well we certainly do so we teamed up with a bunch of our friends and made this fun animation experiment. 

Introducing the first of many Scribble Room idents! Our Creative Director, Harry, has brought to life a vibrant cast of characters from an original IP he's been dreaming up. This ident offers a sneak peek into the world of Frankie and Melvin, whilst being filled with summer vibes. 

An animated experiment conceived by Creative Director Harry Slinger-Thompson, exploring a unique idea: what if we could observe a variety of people interacting with a vending machine over the course of 24 hours? Blending Harry’s signature humor with clever visual gags, this piece captures both the everyday and the unexpected, offering a lighthearted yet subtly comedic experience.

We wanted to team up with our illustrator friend Emily Nash after we saw some of her latest designs in particularly a cute little tortoise. The performance was animated by our director Harry Slinger-Thompson and  the soudn design was a further collaboration with our friends Sounds Like These

Part of "Cardiff Quick Draw's" 48 hour animated film competition. We worked over the weekend to produce this cute short film "Treat" it was a collaborative process with all three of the team designing, animating and coming up with the story together. We found the experience exhilarating and a great way to get the creative juices flowing. 

As time was of the essence we came up with abotu 3 story ideas and then voted on which we preferred. Quickly we settled on one and began discussing story arch and then moving onto various style ideas. We were heavily influenced by a book we had in the studio "The Sandwich thief" by Andre Marois and illustrated by Patrick Doyon. Once we decided on a influence we all began designing and re convening every 2 hours to swap ideas and notes.

We were approached by our good friends over at Blue Zoo to provide 2d animation for Space Ape’s Boom Beach: Frontline game.

The brief was to animate a minute long intro, showcasing what Boom Beach: Frontline is all about.

The client wanted a 1950’s style animation with painted smears and pose to pose style movement.

BlueZoo enlisted Scribble Room to bring their vision to life for Glenfiddich's special edition "Gran Reserva" 21-Year-Aged Whiskey. The project called for a distinctive 2D animation, designed in a flat, cut-out, pop-up picture book style. Our goal was to take viewers on a vibrant visual journey, soaring through dynamic scenes filled with bold, colorful animals and birds. The animation culminates in a striking reveal of Glenfiddich’s iconic stag, perfectly framing the final pack shot and capturing the essence of the brand's prestige and heritage.

Short Animated film created by Scribble Room as part of the Show Me The Animation 48 hr AniJam with Encounters Film Festival 2016. We were challenged to create a short film in just 48hrs based around the theme "ENCOUNTER".

Working with our returning client E-One was great. They tasked us with bringing to life seven social media marketing videos for the new series My Little Pony:

My Little Pony - Tell Your Tales | Scribble Room Animation

Working with our returning client E-One was great. They tasked us with bringing to life seven social media marketing videos for the new series My Little Pony: "Tell Your Tale" We spend a week storyboarding and producing animatics for these seven shorts. They needed to depict a fun transition from their  beloved 3D characters to the new 2D series design. We came up with this quick and flash transition where the old 3D characters would begin to glow and then burst into sparkles reveling the new 2D counterparts.  

The Client seem to really like this Idea and after approving our detailed animatics, we moved onto the rigging process. Luckily we were able to use the broadcast rigs from the series team out in Malaysia. However these rigs were not fully formed and needed some tweaking to get the desired animation out of them.  

Once the rigs were amended we set to work on the key stage of animation the beautiful pose to pose style of My little Pony was on full display. We used reference material from early drafts of the animated series to make sure we were keeping to the style of the show. 

After a brief round of feedback we finalized the animation and added FX were appropriate. the client seemed very happy with what Scribble Room produced. We really enjoyed this opportunity to work with such a beloved IP. And we felt we did it justice with the final output. 

To tie all the animation together we finished by creating the animated Logo for the show. Adorned with rainbows and sparkle effects, in true My little Pony fashion. You can enjoy the final product on Netflix streaming now.

We partnered with Mrs. Wordsmith to produce an impressive 242 (yes, 242!) 30-second interstitial animations within a span of 14 months.

Readiculous | Scribble Room Animation

We partnered with Mrs. Wordsmith to produce an impressive 242 (yes, 242!) 30-second interstitial animations within a span of 14 months. This amounts to just over 2 hours of animated content. These animations feature in Mrs Wordsmith's game-based educational app, 'Readiculous,' designed to assist children in mastering reading skills through the proven method of systematic synthetic phonics.

Mrs. Wordsmith provided the storyboarding, character designs, background art, sound design, and music, while Scribble Room handled the rest. We implemented a comprehensive 2D animation pipeline using the Adobe Suite, which encompassed character rigging, animatics, animation, compositing, and editing.

The collaboration between our two teams brought 'Readiculous' to life, providing young learners with an exciting and educational experience.

We were approached by Wildseed to help out with some additional animation for the animated series Dodo, aired on Sky.

Below are some of the character designs we ended up going with for the film. 

Initially like all ideas the film was going to look very different. Here are some early character development and poses of Henry.

CareScribe are a returning client of ours (handy when their offices are within walking distance to the Scribble Room studio). We have created explainers for their technology products - Caption.Ed & TalkType.

We worked closely with the CareScibe design team to stay true to their products design aesthetic, utilising existing design assets and  incorporating them into the animations.

We wanted to add character and a sense of fun to the classic motion graphics/explainer format.

Tobacco Tactics are another repeat client for us. They provide rigorous research on the tobacco industry.

Tobacco Tactics Animation | Scribble Room Animation

With a script provided by Tobacco Tactics, we created an animation that highlights the Tobacco Industry’s use of corporate social responsibility during the Covid pandemic.

When creating the designs for the animation, we wanted it to work seamlessly with the aesthetic of the Tobacco Tactics website,  as that is where it would be showcased. We utilised their colour palette, textural approach to artwork and their font style.

After the success of our Buglife animation, we were approached again by Skylark Media to design and animate a video for the vegan charity Viva!

Viva Vegan Charity Animation | Scribble Room Animation

Design, storyboarding, animatic, direction, animation, compositing, edit.

Viva wanted the animation to go viral and convey their message that eating meat has negative effects on the planet. Skylark came up with the idea of referencing the ‘This is Fine’ meme, and with the blessing of the original artist we got designing.

The video got 328,000 views on YouTube and won Gold at The Drum Roses Creative Awards 2022

Working with the Thurrock Children In Care Council and Phoenix Theatre Group, we created this short animation explaining how the council works and how to join.

During a Zoom lecture on animation and design headed by Scribble Room, members of the council illustrated and designed self portraits and typography, which were then converted into the animation.

We were blown away with the talent and creativity of the members, and we hope to work with them again in the future.

We teamed up with the agency Pitch to create 3 animated shorts for EE’s Phonesmart Campaign with the Beano.

EE & Beano Phonesmart Campaign Animations | Scribble Room Animation

Phonesmart is a tool to help educate children and their parents on how to stay safe online.

The Beano provided the comic strips and Scribble Room brought them to life. Using extensive character bibles provided by the Beano, we created the animatable rigs in Toon Boom. We decided to tell the story with a simple panning motion across the comic cells, letting the artwork and animation do the heavy lifting. The finished shorts were shown on EE’s social media, BT Sport and on the Phonesmart website.

Buglife is a UK-based nature conservation charity.

Buglife: B-Lines Campaign | Scribble Room Animation

Design, storyboarding, animatic, creative direction, art direction, animation, compositing, edit.

Working with Skylark Media, we created this animation, explaining B-Lines, Buglife's insect superhighways project that aims to restore wildflower-rich areas to our countryside.

For the design we decided to go with vector animation with a hand drawn aesthetic, to reflect the natural textures found in wildflower meadows.

We created an instructional video for the NYC toy fair. Animated logos for the Peppa Pig YouTube channel and a series of animated loops of Peppa, George, Mummy & Daddy.

Using rigs provided by E-One, we created the animations in Cel-Action.

Our studio dog Scout loves a treat, and Denzel’s are her favourite. So when we got a chance to work with them we (especially Scout) were super excited.

Using their existing designs, we brought Denzel to life using a simple, symboled, cut-out style animation in Adobe Animate.

We love Denzel's ethos, working with them inspired us to start our own tree planting initiative. For every project we complete, we will plant a tree at Higher Cherubeer gardens in Devon.
